Arranging International Pet Travel
A huge consideration for us in the immigration process was preparing for our fur children to be relocated, in fact it was the most emotionally draining and worrying part of the entire experience. I absolutely love animals even dare I say it spiders, although whilst I might not feel the compulsion to burn the house down if I see one lurking around indoors, I do prefer it if they respect personal boundaries and do not try and cuddle up to me … even I have limits! In my personal experience animals are far more caring, loyal, loving and accepting than a lot of humans I have met, I feel a…

So Close, Yet So Far!
At the end of 2019 whispers of an outbreak of a pneumonia of unknown cause in Wuhan had turned into a roar and in January 2020 the Novel Coronavirus subsequently named Covid-19 was officially identified. In February 2020 during the growing trepidation over Covid-19 we finally received instructions from Canadian Immigration advising us that we could proceed with our medical and biometric (fingerprints & photographs) assessments, this was music to our ears! These assessments are usually the last check required before the final decision is made on a visa application. If the Canadian Immigration did not approve of our application, then surely, they would not require us to submit to…

Because Time Just Keeps Passing
We knew we had a long wait for our application decision but ever the optimists we did not want to rest on our laurels, we had so much to do! Remember there was no plan B, we were adamant our application was going to be accepted, so we were going to forge ahead and make the most of this time to get much needed renovation work and DIY projects in and around the house completed. As with everything in this process we have always looked for opportunities to maximise our position for when we finally did receive the application outcome we expected. We needed to be able to get as…

Completing a Canadian Visa Application
After officially engaging the services of the Canadian Visa Specialists the hard work really began, we had a Canadian visa application to compile and submit. The days of fluffing around waiting for the universe to weave its magic were over, we had documentation up the wazoo to complete. The sheer amount of documentation required did not dampen our enthusiasm, we were as excited to get started as the Visa Specialists were interested to start work on it, they did not see applications like this every day. This application was going to make or break our chance of success, it had to be as thorough and as near to perfect as…

Taking the First Step
While it may seem that we came to the decision to relocate to Canada in a whimsical and impulsive way we don’t want anyone thinking we have made this decision lightly. Anybody choosing to move to another country needs to be 100% sure that it is the right decision for them, especially when leaving family and close friends behind. Packing up an entire life kit and kaboodle can be a hard, stressful, and drawn-out experience! I have the grey hairs and ingrained frown lines that prove this theory! Immigrating requires research, planning, preparation, patience, and determination. Having successfully relocated from the UK to NZ we had experience on our side…

From the Kiwi Lifestyle to the Canadian Dream
Trusting Your Crazy Ideas! This is the part of the story where we share how we came to make the decision to pack up our life in New Zealand and immigrate to a new country. At an age when many would be working towards easing the foot off the pedal, spending time doing all the things you put off because work got in the way like hobbies, travelling or taking time to seriously debate the merits of memory foam slippers at least (because we are all about comfort these days). Some even use this time of life to consider a mid-life crisis! Wait a minute, perhaps this is a mid-life…

Making Important Connections
This is something that didn’t just happen by chance… it was divinely orchestrated…. I know sounds like a cliché, right? And believe me I love a good cliché but, in this case, it does happen to be true! How we came to settle upon the Visa Specialist of our immigration dreams was serendipity at its best. To make sure we were heading down the right track we spoke with friends of ours who had successfully immigrated to Canada years ago and the most important bit of advice they could offer was to use a Visa Specialist which gave us the final bit of reassurance we needed. We were going to…
